This article describes how to add users and how to assign them appropriate permissions.
Add a user
Navigate to Settings > Authorization > Users;
Click on "Create" at the top right of the table;
In the screen that follows, enter a name and email address.
Enter the username and choose "Send email with auto-generated password." The user will receive an email with a unique link to set their own password.
If you still want to choose your own password, you can do so as well. The password must consist of at least 12 characters. Please note that in this case the person in question will not receive an e-mail with his data. This must be done manually.
Save the data.
Granting/adapting rights
After the user is created, permissions can be assigned.
To edit permissions of existing users, navigate to Settings > Authorization > Users and click on the user you want to edit.
Granting licenses
The first step is to specify which token(s) a user will receive:
None - Most users do not need permissions to Qlik (and data modeling). In most cases, this is sufficient.
Qlik Sense Analyzer - A user receiving this token can open Qlik Sense dashboards, but not edit them;
Qlik Sense Professional - A user who receives this token can open Qlik Sense dashboards and also edit them. Normally, only administrators receive this token. This is because advanced knowledge of Qlik Sense is required to edit dashboard;
Assigning roles
Previously created roles (See "Roles") can now be assigned to the user. Once a user is assigned a role, the user will have access to the dashboards, interfaces and pages assigned in that role. This is visible by the checkboxes that are checked at the dashboards and pages, which cannot be unchecked. Only when the role is removed or modified do these check marks disappear.
Organigram
Once the organizational chart is set up (see "Setting up organizational chart for authorization"), users can be linked to it. The organizational chart determines what is shown by default in dashboards to which a user has access. Link the user to the appropriate entity in the organizational chart. Follow these steps:
Click on the "Organization Chart" field and the organization chart will open on the right;
Choose which entity(s) the user needs access for here;
Click on "Save."
Customize individual rights
The use of roles is recommended. Roles are easier to manage than if permissions are issued at the individual level.
In addition to using roles, it is also possible to adjust permissions at the user level. For each user, dashboards can be assigned to which the user has access. In addition, it can also be specified which pages a user should have access to.
Authorizing Dashboards
Open the "Dashboard" tab;
You will see a list of data models and dashboards. A data model contains all the data around a particular topic. This can be a very large data model. A dashboard is then a visual layer over this data model. Multiple dashboards can be attached to 1 data model. For example, there might be a data model called "HRM." And then you could for example have 3 dashboards called "Inflow", "Absence" and for example "Contract Management"; See the "Create Dashboard" page how to create a dashboard;
Click all the dashboards that the user should have access to;
Check "Editable" if the user should actually be able to edit the dashboard. Generally, only administrators will receive this right;
Some users may not require the user's own organizational chart to be followed, but may be granted more rights in a dashboard. As an example, an HRM advisor who according to his own organization chart may only see the HRM department but in an absence dashboard should be able to see the entire organization. Suppose the absenteeism dashboard is selected, then the entire organization chart can be checked for this dashboard. Note that you grant permissions at data model level. If the user is given all permissions within the HRM data model, the user will have these permissions within all underlying dashboards.
Save the user.
Qlik Sense
Some users within BrynQ are also allowed to edit the data models themselves. Often these are only administrators who actually build dashboards and data models.
Open the "Dashboard" tab;
Locate the desired data model;
Specify whether it should be possible to edit Sheets in Qlik Sense and edit the data model. Please note, this is only possible with a Qlik Sense Professional token. With a Qlik Sense Analyzer token, you cannot edit dashboards in Qlik Sense;
For certain users, it may not be necessary to follow the user's own organizational chart but the user may be given more permissions in a dashboard. As an example an HRM consultant who according to his own organization chart is allowed to see only the HRM department but in an absence dashboard should be able to see the whole organization. Suppose the absence dashboard is selected, then for this data model the whole organization chart can be checked.
Save the user.
Assign page rights
Open the "Authorization" tab and then the "Permissions" tab;
Check the pages to which the user should be granted access. For now, assigning page rights is quite simple. A user with access to a page can directly do anything on this page. In the future, the CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) rights principle will be added to this;
