Summary:
Manage interface drafts, publish finished changes, and restore an older live version when you need to roll back.
Requirements:
- You need permission to edit the interface.
- You need permission to publish the interface before you can make a draft live.
- The interface must be editable. If the interface is In development, some actions can be disabled.
- To restore a version, the interface must have an older published version.
Manage Drafts and Versions
Use drafts when you need to change an interface without changing the current live version immediately.
Understand the version statuses
- Live is the published version that BrynQ uses for runs.
- Draft is the editable version where you prepare changes.
- Old version is a version that was live before, but is no longer the latest live version.
- A live or old version is read-only. To change the interface, start or open a draft.
- BrynQ can have only one draft for the same interface at a time.
Create a draft
- Open Interfaces.
- Select the interface that you want to change.
- If the interface has no draft, select Create draft.
- BrynQ creates a new draft based on the latest live version.
- Update the required setup sections, such as Configuration, Scenarios, Authorization, Mapping, Variables, or Schedule.
- BrynQ saves most changes while you work. Use Continue later when you want to leave the draft without publishing it.
Open an existing draft
- Open the interface from Interfaces or Setups.
- Select Show draft when a draft already exists.
- Check the updated date if you need to confirm when the draft was last changed.
- Continue editing the draft, or use Continue later to return to the latest live version.
Discard a draft
- Open the draft.
- Select the more actions menu.
- Select Discard draft.
- Confirm the action.
- BrynQ deletes the draft changes and returns you to the latest live version.
Important: Discarding a draft cannot be undone. If the interface only has one draft and no live version yet, deleting the draft can also remove that unfinished interface.
Publish Changes
Publish a draft only when the setup is complete and ready to be used.
Check the draft before publishing
- Review every visible setup section.
- Resolve warnings on required tabs.
- Check Authorization before publishing, because missing app connections can block runs.
- Check Schedule if the interface already runs automatically.
- Check Variables if users must enter values during a manual run.
Publish the draft
- Select Publish.
- Read the confirmation message.
- If the interface has an active schedule, remember that publishing can affect the next run.
- Confirm that you want to publish the draft.
- BrynQ validates the draft before publishing.
- After publishing, the draft becomes the new Live version.
- The previous live version becomes an Old version.
When publishing is blocked
- Open the tab or section with a warning.
- Complete the missing required information.
- Wait until saving is complete if BrynQ is still saving changes.
- Try Publish again after all mandatory parts are complete.
Restore an Older Version
Restore an old version only when you are sure you want to roll back later changes.
View an old version
- Open the live interface.
- Select the Version button in the interface header.
- Choose the older version that you want to inspect.
- BrynQ shows the Old version label when you are not viewing the latest live version.
- Select Go back if you only want to return to the latest live version.
Restore an old version
- While viewing an old version, select Restore to this version.
- Read the restore confirmation carefully.
- Check the version list in the confirmation window.
- Select Confirm only when you are sure.
- BrynQ restores the selected version and removes later version data.
Warning: Restoring is irreversible. From the restored version onward, everything except Authorization and Schedule data is permanently deleted. Newer versions shown in the confirmation window are removed and cannot be recovered.
When restore is disabled
- Check whether the interface is In development.
- Check whether you have permission to edit the interface.
- Make sure you are viewing an Old version, not the latest live version.
- Do not restore while another user is still preparing important draft changes.
More Information
Use Create draft for normal changes, Publish when those changes are ready, and Restore to this version only for a rollback. If you only want to inspect history, use the Version menu and then select Go back.
