Connect with DATEV

Connect with DATEV

Connecting DATEV with BrynQ

With BrynQ you can connect your DATEV environment so that employee and payroll data can flow automatically.
This guide explains what you (or your DATEV administrator) need to prepare and how to connect inside BrynQ.

What you need in DATEV before connecting

To make the connection work, a DATEV administrator (usually your tax advisor) must check these things:
  1. Login method: You need one of DATEV’s login tools (SmartLogin app, SmartCard, or mIDentity).
  2. Rights in DATEV: The correct people must be given access in Rechteverwaltung online (DATEV’s rights management).
  3. Activated services: If you plan to send payroll data, your advisor must have ordered and activated the right Datenservices (e.g. Lohnimport for sending payroll inputs, Lohnauswertung for getting payslips back).
  4. Advisor and client numbers: You’ll need the Beraternummer (advisor number) and Mandantennummer (client number). Your advisor can provide these.

👉 If any of these steps are missing, the connection may succeed visually but the data transfer will fail later. Always check with your advisor/admin first.

How to connect DATEV in BrynQ

Here’s the process shown in our video:
  1. Log into BrynQ and go to Interfaces.
  2. Create a new interface. Use our templates and choose DATEV LODAS (or DATEV Lohn und Gehalt, works the same).
  3. Choose if you want to send data to DATEV or download data from DATEV. In most cases you’ll upload to DATEV.
  4. Fill in the basic details (e.g. advisor number and client number).
  5. Go to the Scenarios tab. Here you decide what type of information will be sent (personal data, address, bank account, insurance, etc.). You can disable entire scenarios or just certain fields if they’re not needed.
  6. Next, open the Authorization tab – this is the key step.
    • Click Add authorization.
    • Give it a name (for example, your own name).
    • Choose OAuth 2.0 (this is DATEV’s secure login method).
    • Click Connect to app.
    • A DATEV login window opens. Choose your login method (SmartLogin, SmartCard, or Benutzerkonto).
    • Complete the login – when it’s done, the window closes automatically.
    • You’ll now see your new authorization listed in BrynQ.

That’s it – your BrynQ environment is now connected to DATEV.

Troubleshooting
  • Error message about missing rights: Ask your DATEV admin to grant the correct rights in Rechteverwaltung online for your client/mandate.
  • Payroll options not visible: Your advisor needs to order/activate the right DATEV Datenservice.
  • Login not working: Make sure you’re using the correct DATEV login method (SmartLogin, SmartCard, or mIDentity).
  • Still stuck? Check if DATEV is undergoing maintenance (they sometimes take systems offline overnight or on weekends) or contact BrynQ support.

Important notes
  • The connection is always secure. Your password never passes through BrynQ; you log in directly with DATEV.
  • You can revoke access at any time either in BrynQ (by deleting the authorization) or in DATEV’s Rechteverwaltung online.
